Summary of Finance Controller Position
Responsible for overseeing corporate financial reporting, financial analysis, internal controls, and administrative functions. Manage accounting staff, liaise with departmental managers, and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
Finance Controller Job Duties
Working Manager of all accounting functions.
Ability to understand all aspects of the department and be able to process any segment that may be needed.
Manage the payroll area, process payroll for the executive branch.
Ensure compliance with all payroll reporting and payroll tax reporting.
Manage the payables team, ability to process invoices and credits, oversee check payment schedule.
Manage the receivables team, ability to process payments, refunds and explain customer account activity.
Manage vendor contract segment.
Prepare monthly financial statements and supplemental schedules in compliance with reporting deadlines.
Work with the parent company on any additional details needed.
Ability to understand the financing function of receivables, work with the parent company on all processing issues.
Manage depreciation reports and capitalization details.
Coordinate and prepare budgets and financial forecasts for internal and external use.
Ensure compliance with sales tax, property taxes, and other applicable taxes.
Fulfill other corporate duties as needed.
Education Requirements
Bachelor's degree in accounting
Five plus years in a managerial accounting position.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Ability to plan, organize, and multi-task Budgetary preparation and management experience.
Proficiency in accounting procedures and principles.
Knowledge of banking procedures related to money management.
Experience in cash management and expenditure processes.
Understanding of federal tax guidelines and compliance.
Familiarity with fixed asset depreciation schedules.
Strong supervisory skills.
Excellent organizational and communication skills.
Effective time-management abilities.
Ability to perform all accounting functions, including financial statement preparation.
Attention to detail.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines independently.
Experience in training, supervising, and evaluating subordinates.
Proficiency in various PC software.
Ability to establish credibility and support organizational priorities.
Strong team player with the ability to interact with other departments.

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
